As part of the UK ARIA “Safeguarded AI” program, we develop frameworks and research for embedding democratic accountability into the governance structures of AI organizations to enhance the democratic nature of key technology governance decisions and enable them to answer increasingly difficult governance questions.

How to procure a deliberative process

An example of a commissioning guide, which documents (for internal staff) the process of commissioning a deliberative process from a third-party provider, and an example delivery brief, which is typically handed to the third-party provider to help them understand the requirements for the process.

Exploring how “case law” approaches inspired by judicial practices may provide a more effective knowledge representation and participant experience for connecting deliberative public input into AI alignment and inference systems.

Deliberative Safety Specifications

As part of the UK ARIA “Safeguarded AI” program, we design and coordinate the implementation of deliberative processes for defining formal safety specifications for advanced AI systems.
